Make your own Trove newspaper game!

Make your own Trove newspaper game!

Headline Roulette is a simple game using Trove’s digitised newspapers. Presented with a randomly selected article, you have to guess the year in which it was published. But beware, you only get 10 guesses! The production version of this game is available at headlineroulette.net.

By default, Headline Roulette selects a random newspaper article from anywhere in Trove, but you can change this. Perhaps you’d like a version that only uses articles from Queensland, or articles published in The Tribune. Perhaps you’d like a feline version that only uses articles mentioning ‘cats’ or ‘kittens’. It’s easy – thanks to Glitch all you need to do is edit a few files and you’ll soon have your own customised edition of Headline Roulette to play and share. You can even change the prompts and messages. Build a version for your workshop, class, or community. Build a version just for fun.

Just head over to the Headline Roulette starter kit and follow the instructions. All you need is a Trove API key and a free account on Glitch.

Enjoy!
